Two major factors that prevent people from making optimal decisions are:
1. Immaturity, the fear of growing up and taking psychological responsibility for oneself. Often it shows up as inability to make a choice, or there are two choices that are attractive, but are incompatible. In this case a person is not understanding their values and priorities and that makes it hard for them to set boundaries and to make decisions. Often a person feels fragmented, as if parts of him/her are missing. They often remind wind vanes, they change their direction easily, they do not yet developed the core, the foundation, ability to lean on self. They could be compared to being teenagers eternally, never going through “initiation” into becoming an adult.
2. Unhealthy attachment, ambivalent feelings toward something. For example, a desire to move out of a parent’s house and a desire to stay with parents. A desire to quit smoking and a desire to keep smoking.
Inability to make decisions can lead to chronic stress, tension in the body, and various health problems. The more optimally you decide, the less problems you will have in all areas of life be it in finances, health, relationships, self-realization.
